CISO Trust Club – 23rd April
It would not be out of place to suggest that 2014 was a poor year for security professionals. Over the last 12 months virtually every sector across the globe has been hit by some type of cyber security breach and it has unfortunately taken a number of high profile disasters for cyber security to be recognised as a business risk rather than an IT specific issue.
Despite the obvious need for heightened security the modern CISO faces a paradox – a boardroom demand for impenetrable security paired with an employee request to be relaxed in the face of modern technologies.
Security in The Nexus of Forces (especially cloud and mobile) is a major challenge across all markets. With employees able to access confidential information beyond the office the threat from insider attacks is greatly elevated, and whilst the percentage of security incidences that result from privilege account misuse is relatively low they often account for the largest and most costly incidents.
The attacker roadmap is a familiar one – exploit an external vulnerability then control privileged accounts to expand access in the target network. However with advances in technology security threats are evolving and account misuse is increasingly difficult to identify and shutdown.
The CISO’s concerns are mirrored in the forecasted growth of the Global Privilege Identity Management market, a CAGR of 27% between 2014-2019. So what steps can be taken to prevent security breaches through the use of privilege accounts, whilst simultaneously allowing employees the freedom they expect? And how can security professionals identify unusual user activity before it is too late?
Join The CISO Trust Club on the 23rd April to debate and discuss innovative solutions to our modern security dilemma. We will be meeting at the St.James’s Hotel & Club, one of London’s most exclusive boutique hotels. The evening will begin at 6:30pm with half an hour of networking drinks, at 7PM guests will then be invited through to the private dining room to begin our five star, three course dinner-discussion.
